About Montblanc Pens

In 1908, three men joined forces to begin a pen company. They were Claus-Johannes Voss, who was a stationer, and banker Alfred Nehemias along with an engineer named August Eberstein. The pen company's first name was Simplo Filler Pen, and its location was in Hamburg, Germany. The first Simplo Filler pen was the Rouge et Noir. It was introduced in 1909, and later, in 1910, the company released the pen that it would soon be named for, which was the Montblanc. The company's name change occurred in 1934. Early Montblanc pens include interior ink sacks along with a filling system that contains a button device. Montblanc continues to produce quality pens. Furthermore, the brand is now on other products like jewelry, watches, sunglasses, eyeglasses, fragrances and leather goods.

Pen Facts

Montblanc currently makes several pen editions. The Meisterstuck pen is the company's foundational product. The name "Meisterstuck" means masterpiece in the German language, and the company used the term to explain the quality of its writing instruments. The fountain pen's introduction occurred in 1924, and the first edition began with a safety filling pen. To ensure the Meisterstuck's superiority in the pen industry, Montblanc produced the device from high-grade materials that included celluloid and precious metals. The company also guaranteed the nibs. Montblanc continues to manufacture the line, and today, the model includes fountain, rollerball and ballpoint pens. The company even produces pencils and highlighters under the storied Meisterstuck name.

With its reputation for quality merchandise, Montblanc has contributed pen elements to other high-end companies, such as Cartier and Montegrappa, who have introduced pens to the market. In addition, Montblanc's striking designs and durability has ensured the company's superior standing in the pen industry.
